Pop Eye

Pop eye the mall cop

Authors noted: This is the last piece to finish off this year. My partner and I chose to make a twist on Pop Eye and made it Pop Eye the mall cop.

“ Pop Eye please report to the Macy’s store in the east wing of the mall”

“oh I tell you if it’s probably a little cat fight, I’m putting you in the trash”

5 minutes late Pop Eye gets to Macy’s

“ Ok what is the problem ladies,” says Pop Eye

Pop Eye didn’t notice that the people fighting were really men with long hair.
The two men turn around, mad and red faced.

One man asks Pop Eye, “Did you just call me a lady?”

Then the other man asks the same thing.

Pop Eye hesitates and says, “Yes, yes I did”.

The men wind up to punch. Luckily Pop Eye ate his spinach for lunch right before going, Because he would need it. Before the men swing at Pop Eye, Pop Eye up cuts them both. Sending them flying through the air. what stops them is a brick wall.

The people start running away from Pop Eye. Afraid they were going to be next on the list.

Pop Eye finally cools down and says, “That should serve you right for awhile

Past and Modern Day Stories

authors note: this is about how people take a person from a old text and make it into a modern text

Zeus in the older text he was more tense and feared by people. Also in the older text, Zeus sounds more powerful over everyone and everything. But in the modern rendition he is a poof off and seems like the low baller. He thinks he can do anything, but always gets shut down at the last second. He uses a cell phone instead of ancient stuff to talk to people. Also Zeus isn't really a leader in the modern story like in classical stories about Zeus, where he is a very big leader.

The changes make it more fun for the reader or actor. It is also funny and in a way brings out the smart, dumb, and dumber of the people we live with in today world. We also have the gossip people and the hyper and active people of today.  It also makes it feel like today's world. Like who some people who act like Mr. know it all's and the people that get girls, but can stand up for themselves.

Now and The Past

Authors note:  This piece is a response to the short story “ After You, My Dear Alphonse” and how it is alike and different to,  today’s age. To show how racism and wars were back then and how they are now.

How do you think racism is right now? Do you think it changed since the 1940’s? In my opinion, I think it has changed a lot. How you ask, because we don’t have segregation and many other things. There are many comparisons and non comparisons with this topic for Racism of how it was back then and how it is now.

First, the time period of this piece is reflected in the attitude and assumptions of the mother. For instance, Mrs. Wilson never really had a chance to meet or have a colored person in her house. So in that case she made assumptions about Boyd. On top of that, she made false thoughts about his family.  Plus the true time period was in the 1940’s, when racism was at a high.  During that era, colored woman usually worked as maids and people were hard on their children and who they hung out with. That is probably why Mrs. Wilson was maybe making assumptions about Boyd and his family.

However, these attitudes are very different than the attitudes most people have nowadays. Most people are nice to every race. Some people may still have something against other races, like the KKK. But today many people treat each other the same. Also most people in today’s world invite everyone in to their homes and are not awkward around other races like Mrs. Wilson was with Boyd.

While there are comparisons, racism and war is still going on in the world and somewhat in your back yard. People in some parts of the world aren’t allowed to vote. All of a sudden riots broke out and people started dying for no reason. All they wanted was their freedom to vote for who they want to run their government and country. Then there are many civil wars that go on because they want fair rights. Then there is the murders in your own back yards. Like you hear people killing people because of their color, their beliefs, and what they do for a living. There is always a motive behind everything that happens.

In conclusion lots of things changed. It is more peaceful for all people and all races. There were many hardships for people back in the time of Boyd’s childhood. How would you act if you were from the 1940’s and traveled in time to today? Would you fit in and act like everyone else or be like Mrs. Wilson and be  awkward around everyone else. Do you think it changed a lot or is it still the same?

Trojan horse

Trojans

The conflict was that the Trojans and the Greeks were fighting for 10 years.  The way the conflict got resolved was the Greeks make a big horse. The horse was a trick to get inside the Trojan city. The Greeks sat inside the hallow horse till the horse was inside the city. Then they were inside, they jumped out and slaughtered everyone in the city. This was so sneaky because the soldier the Greeks left behind made the Trojans  think it was a gifted and that they would it was empty and just hallow.

I don’t think this could happen really anywhere. The reason why not is because it would be to much work to do. Pulse it is to big and there is no need for it. So with that, I don’t think it could happen at school or a work place. The reasons, again are the same, there is really no need for it and it would take to long to make. I really only noticed it on the history channel. They were talking about that time period and about the kind of war tactics they used back then.

ribbons

Write about how culture is different in china and the U.S. in what ways does the U.S. do things for superficial beauty? What is the significance of the title?

The culture is a lot different than from other in china, according to the story ribbons. In the U.S. we don’t have strict rules, like how you greet someone or really treat someone. It’s like how the girl hugged the grandma, but the grandma shunned her because in china they really don’t hug each other, they bow.

The way china used to think of getting beauty, was bending your toes back and making them form with the bottom of your foot. In the U.S.  we wear makeup, get plastic surgery, and lots more. The title fit in because the ribbons meant what they rapped their feet in so there was no pain.  Also the ribbons set the grandma and the daughter up for  bad friendship.

After you analysed

analysis how the story relates to the topics of nalvete and reverse racism. How does it compare and contrast to our society in Pewaukee? Other areas in the world or country? What lesson do you think Shirley Jackson is trying to teach us.

It relates to racism because  Mrs. Wilson thought just because Boyd was a different race she had to treat him a totally different way. The way it contrast is that people don’t really think different of what race you are. Then that mostly everyone treats everyone the same or equally. I can’t really think of the comparisons of the story and Pewaukee. But obviously there is racism everywhere. People think they have it bad here, they would see the other side of the world. In the middle east there are wars and protests and gangs starting stuff. I think Shirley Jackson wanted to teach us about you don’t have to treat people that are different races different. Also that you don’t have to be super kind.

Racism and Stereo types

After you, My Dear Alphonse
essay

Authors Note: this is about racism and what people thought of each other’s race. Also there are many stereo types in the real story and phrases to show the stereo types. I am writing about a couple of those phrases that show a couple of those stereo types.

Many thing played out back in the 1940’s. There was racism and war going on around. So at that time there was a lot of stereo types and guesses on the people we were fighting with in the war and in our own back yards with racism. “After You, My Dear Alphonse” by Shirley Jackson, has many quotes and phrases to state where and how this story has stereo types. How would you act if you lived back then? Would you treat Boyd how Mrs. Wilson treated him? I think this story can also relate to today’s world, because there is still war, racism, and many stereo types.

Mrs. Wilson thought different and acted different when she saw Boyd was a colored boy. So she started to make obsessions and false thoughts about Boyd and thinking and says what she had hear about colored people. Mrs. Wilson started out shocked and confused, then went it to a weird stage of being too much of a generous person. Into a bad stage of flipping out on Johnny and Boyd because they weren’t admiring Mrs. Wilsons generosity, like she wants them to.

First phrase is where Mrs. Wilson was making assumptions is where everything falls down into where they say, “Boyd’s father doesn’t have to,” Johnny said. “He’s a foreman.”Mrs. Wilson felt defeated.” I think is a great way to describe at reactions to the comments that were said. It also show the way Mrs. Wilson felt about how they were coming back and making her be completely wrong about everything she was assuming about Boyd’s life.

Second one is when Mrs. Wilson flipped out at Johnny and Boyd because they denied Mrs. Wilsons offer of clothes. At the point of where she got hot headed she did and said, “Mrs. Wilson lifted the plate of gingerbread off the table as Boyd was about to take another piece. “There are many little boys like you, Boyd, who would be grateful for the clothes someone was kind enough to give them.” This point Boyd feels guilty for saying no to her offer.

Third, but not least, is when Mrs. Wilson doesn’t want Boyd to think she isn’t mad or angry. But it makes no sense because she says, “Don’t think I’m angry, Boyd. I’m just disappointed in you, that’s all. Now let’s not say anything more about it.” I know I would think different of Mrs. Wilson because of how she fired off at him and because he didn’t deserve to be treated like that.

There are many phrases and saying that bring out the idea of the writer of “After You, My Dear Alphonse”. These phrases also helps the read have a image and their own thought of this piece. But it is crazy racism and war that was taking place in this piece still takes place in the world today, as you’re reading this.
