analysis how the story relates to the topics of nalvete and
reverse racism. How does it compare and contrast to our society in Pewaukee?
Other areas in the world or country? What lesson do you think Shirley Jackson
is trying to teach us.
It relates to racism because Mrs. Wilson thought just because Boyd was a
different race she had to treat him a totally different way. The way it
contrast is that people don’t really think different of what race you are. Then
that mostly everyone treats everyone the same or equally. I can’t really think
of the comparisons of the story and Pewaukee. But obviously there is racism
everywhere. People think they have it bad here, they would see the other side
of the world. In the middle east there are wars and protests and gangs starting
stuff. I think Shirley Jackson wanted to teach us about you don’t have to treat
people that are different races different. Also that you don’t have to be super
kind.
